Graduate Programme

The graduate program is designed for graduates with bachelor’s or master’s degrees and spans 24 months, featuring at least 4 rotations lasting six months each throughout the business. Typically, you will engage in two core rotations within the Analysis and Trading Capability departments, while the remaining rotations will be tailored to align with business needs and your specific interests whenever possible.

Summer Internship Programme

Petroineos offers exciting internship opportunities in Analysis, Shipping, and Finance. Furthermore, we periodically look for recent graduates in the fields of Risk, People Services, and Products. We welcome interns who are currently in their penultimate year of their bachelor's or master’s programs or have graduated within the past year.

Designed For Those On The Move

Interns can immerse themselves in a rewarding experience with us for 10-12 paid weeks during the summer, usually from late June to early September. During this time, they will tackle exciting, customer-focused projects that help our team solve real business challenges. 

From day one, interns will be entrusted with meaningful responsibilities and will receive support and guidance from their team leader and colleagues, ensuring a valuable learning experience.

At the conclusion of the internship, there is a chance for interns to transition back to university with a graduate opportunity or a full-time job offer to join Petroineos immediately after completing their studies.

What qualifications do candidates need to participate in the Graduate Programme?

We typically invite driven bachelors or master’s degree graduates, or those with equivalent experience, to seize the chance to take on our graduate position. This is usually an individuals first full time position or they are early into their career journey. Graduates selected to be on the programme will get real responsibility from day one, alongside coaching from your supervisor and team.

All of our graduates are full-time employees of Petroineos on fixed-term contracts. We typically have a global start date for grads which is in September. This way, we ensure they have finished their studies, and also that they can build a network of peers around them for on-going support.

Note: All graduates must have the correct legal Right to Work in the UK before the start and throughout the duration of the 2-year programme. If you are not able to demonstrate the correct legal documents at time of offer, you will not be able to proceed on the programme.

What is the recruitment / interview process for Graduate and Intern opportunities?

To apply, you will need to submit your application via our job advertisement, which links to our online recruitment system. The Talent Acquisition team at Petroineos / PetroChina, along with the Graduate hiring committee, will review your CV and Cover Letter (please keep your application to 3-4 pages max).

If your application is deemed a great match for our Graduate Program, you will be invited to complete an online psychometric assessment. 

Upon successfully finishing the assessment, you will be invited for a final interview at our office. The hiring panel will convene to make the decisive selection for the graduate position(s).

When should I apply?

We offer opportunities year round! However, generally, we begin accepting applications for our next year intake at the end of September or the start of October. Keep an eye out for updates!

What is the role of the mentor?

Your mentor is a key figure in the program, offering support and guidance every step of the way. You will collaborate to choose assignments that align with your interests, personal growth, and the needs of the business. Furthermore, your mentor will offer valuable advice and feedback, assisting you in your overall development activities.

What is my employment status within the Petroineos Trading Limited Graduate Programme?

Participation in the program designates you as a Petroineos employee under a fixed-term employment contract lasting 24 months. The terms of this contract will differ based on your location and the specific employment laws and regulations of the country.

Can I choose the rotation areas I will be working in?

We wholeheartedly invite you to submit your application and share the specific fields that pique your interest. Our goal is to align your passions and skills with the needs of our business.
