Credit Analyst

Petroineos Trading Limited is a trading and refining joint venture between INEOS and PetroChina International (London) Company Limited founded in 2011, with its headquarters based in London. The trading activity is structured around asset-driven and entrepreneurial trading teams in Oil, Refined Products, Gas, Power, Emissions and LNG.

As a Credit Analyst, you will play a vital role role in the day-to-day operations of the Finance function.

This is a 12-month FTC position.

Key Responsibilities


  • To complete counterparty credit applications for all new/existing counterparties required to transact with from the front office – analysing counterparties’ credit worthiness in order to recommend appropriate credit limits and managing relevant credit support where necessary.
  • Ensure that the relevant Credit systems are updated as required and in line with policy.
  • Regular review of Counterparty limits/status. 
  • Provide front line support to traders on credit checks and related issues. Work through deal requests ensuring credit risk is understood and mitigation requirements are negotiated and met. 
  • Provide assistance to new projects within Oil, Oil products, SAF, Metals and Bunkering activities, from a credit risk perspective.
  • Experience in Gas, Power and LNG would be advantageous, but not a requirement. 
  • Assist with the Credit reporting and controls – routine reporting of credit exposure and risk measures, and anticipation and management of breaches and exceptions. 
  • Developing and maintaining relationships with counterparties including support in negotiating trading documentation and maximizing credit lines extended to the company.
  • Provide ad hoc support to wholesale teams in Lavera/Grangemouth

Skills, Knowledge and Expertise

  • Relevant degree in Finance, Accounting or Business Administration 
  • Proven and demonstrable experience in a finance or credit risk team
  • Commodities experience is preferred
  • Strong team player
  • Excellent attention to detail
