Polymer / Petrochemicals Operator

Key Responsibilities
- Co-ordinate operations from trade inception to completion relating to polymer and petrochemical products.
- Obtain clean acceptance of vessels/container liners in a timely manner.
- Issue voyage orders to shipping/counter-parties and monitor progress of vessel, informing trading of any slippage or speed-ups in a timely manner.
- Appoint approved inspectors as required.
- Ensure cargo loading and discharging adhere to any credit or L/C requirements.
- Accurately update in ERP system in a timely fashion.
- Check all calculations relating to the trade (freight, demurrage, product, inspectors, cargo superintendents, gains/losses, insurance and additives).
- Identify and enact solutions to minimise profit leakage.
- Coordinate and/or assist in claims where necessary.
- Establishing and maintaining good and professional working relationships with internal and external counterparties.
- Maintain accurate records of each cargo including prompt and accurate filing.
- Maintain excellent HSE standards.
- Adhere to company policies and procedures whilst ensuring compliance with all operational processes.
What we’re looking for / Skills that will help you in the role
- Proven commercial experience in operations, logistics, international trading or a similar role relating to the petrochemical / distribution sector is essential.
- Solid product knowledge and experience with polymer, oxythlene, paraffin wax, liquid and/or solid products is essential.
- Previous logistics experience with European Ports, working closely with traders, shipping scheduling, and planning teams to fosters ethical business relationships with customers, suppliers and co-workers is essential.
- Understanding of global shipping and relevant documentation (L/C), as well as a professional history of working closely with an oil or petrochemical trading team is highly desirable.
- Good knowledge of paper trading activities and hedging is highly advantageous.
- Ability to work independently in handling varied and complex operational issues.
- Communication– Clearly presents thoughts and ideas, both verbally and in writing.
- Organisation – Exhibits a highly organised approach to detailed work and maintains accurate and effective files.
- Multi-Tasking Abilities – a can do and proactive attitude in managing multiple, time sensitive tasks concurrently is essential.
- Analytical/Problem Solving Skills – Thinks and manages problems and tasks through to completion. Evaluates and understands the financial impact of decisions/activities.
- Detail-oriented with a strong focus on accuracy and compliance.
- Knowledge and experience in IT including Microsoft Outlook, Excel, and Word.
